This dress was made for my brother's wedding, during the summer of 2017! The design and construction took me two weeks. this was my first attempt at draping. The dress is on grain and the cowl is a separate piece cut on bias. while making this, I didn't have an invisible zipper foot, so I hand stitched the zipper in. The dress is fully lined with a free hanging lining, tacked to the shell at the seams. the hem is a small roll- hem. To clarify, this dress was inspired by Ariel's iconic dress, but not meant to replicate it. I learned so much from this project, including methods of draping a princess seam gown, and adding a cowl neckline to a dress cut on grain. there are a lot of things I would do differently if I had another shot at this, but overall, I'm proud of myself and like the end result :)
