Wonder Woman Banquet Gown
This gown was a passion project of mine. I wanted to make a gown for a banquet I would be attending, and I love Wonder Woman, so I wanted to draw different aspects of her costume and style into one gown. so I did a light and airy chiffon draped, almost toga-like design to draw from her Greek/Roman/ amazonian style, over a strong sleeveless red body suit, reminiscent of her regular armor.

I wanted to learn more about draping chiffon, but also ombre dying, and creating a boned bodice. My first attempt at draping the chiffon was kind of a disaster, but I ran out of time. The first image of the draping was what I could do in a week of work, and then I came home, took the chiffon off, draped it again, didn't like it, and draped it again.
When I finally got the shape I wanted, I hand sewed all the folds and pleats with a sparkling golden thread, and then took the blue layer off, hemmed the entire thing with a small rolled hem, and did the dying. For that process, mainly, I wanted to keep the fabric wet, so the dye could seep upwards through the fabric to create a gradual fade. I bound most of the fabric together, so I could just hold the top and dip the bottom in, without worrying about any dye getting on the wrong parts.
I then reset the blue layer on top of the red bodice, and sewed it on in key points. like at the left side seam. I then sewed a small, clear, elastic strap to the bodice over the left shoulder, and sewed the blue piece that drapes over, to the strap, so it would not slip off the shoulder. To finish, it's laced in the back through the golden rivets with a navy ribbon!

Although I only had a week to create this gown for my banquet, I took it home afterwards and worked on it for another month and a half; gradually rearranging the chiffon drape and hand sewing all of the folds.
