Cloaking Device

At first, I just completed this as a hypothetical design line based on my favorite superhero. Then, my senior year, I created a gown based on my design ideas. The gown was created using couture techniques and hand sewing. I learned so much, like how to create a removable cape on a gown (attached with hook and bars). I also learned that I did the skirt slit incorrectly, as you can see in some images, because I thought I could just make a princess seam gown and rip up one of the seams. But due to the tightness of the design, this just caused the seam to be pulled open very widely, in a way I didn't really want or expect. so I added an extra black satin lining to the skirt for the runway show just to preserve modesty. The gown is made of three layers: a gold lining, a muslin layer I used to suspend boning in the bodice, and the outer, self layer made of a  light black crepe suiting fabric. Also, for the mask she wore on the runway, it was just a cheap little thing I got from Hobby Lobby, because I ran out of time to make my own from scratch, which was a bummer. I had so much fun making this but also a lot of stress and frustration. haha. I'm so glad I went through it though!!
