Sustainable Activewear - band uniform
This is a band uniform I made from recycled clothing. A clothing donation drive was organized, and then the senior designers were told to go through the massive pile of clothing to look for garments we wanted to use and recycle for fabric. I chose mainly white jeans, and burnt orange tshirts. I also found two pairs of black leggings, one made of pleather, and one of spandex. I used heavy interfacing on the tshirts for the coat, and then I used all of the tshirt roll hems for the zig-zag patterns on the side of the legs. I also made the burnt orange fringe from the tshirts. I used a thin burnt orange knit dress for the jacket lining. I used the pleather leggings for the texas lettering and cuffs. and the spandex leggings for stretch panels on the side of the pants. everything else is made from the white denim I got from the jeans I picked up! I left a lot of the original flat felled seams on the jeans, because they were so pretty and I was worried I couldn't do them as well on my own. This project was so interesting because of all the stretchy knit fabrics I used! I have mostly worked with wovens, so this was a great learning opportunity. I really love how this uniform turned out, and I'm so proud of myself!
